Beneath the Surface

Stones at the edge
Water between blades
Light at the surface

Under the water
Silt pulls downward
Darkness rises

Foot in black silt
Depth takes the body
Smell hangs in the water

Dead wood crosswise
Circles in silt
Ground beneath silt
